Get Involved
Here are some pointers
1) we aim to create (and curate) content that covers the following
The attention economy- reports, anecdotes and longtitudinal social studies on what’s happening to our brains, and how to fix it.
History- What was ‘pre-internet’? What can we learn from it? Why are we building a BSS?
Build in Public- we’re trying out a new way of company creation that includes total, unabashed transparency.
Art & Journalism- what’s next for artists? how does a creator economy thrive?
Coordination & governance-
2-By definition and design, we’re not creating articles, podcasts or educational modules with the intention of people completing them and having a well-rounded knowledge.**
We are gap-fillers.
3) Given the opensource and collaborative nature of what we’re doing, testing ideas is highly encouraged.
Everything you create needs to be attributed back to you and The Thing is simply a place to contribute your ideas if you want to.
Here are some ideas of how to get involved (this list isn’t exhaustive or prescriptive, it is a guide)
Be a cheerleader/connector (Evangelise)
- Share our native content
- Got an intro to someone we should record with? Let us know!
- Feel like starting a The Thing Reddit? Go for it!
- Feel like starting a subreddit/ related fediverse account, tiktok? Go for it!
Help educate (Build)
- Share your own content
- Share other projects' content! (The Thing isn't a "competitor" by nature, it's a collaborator)
- Have you found helpful tools, datasets, or other resources? Share them with the community!
Make it beautiful (Design)
- Write blog posts or articles
- Design graphics or illustrations
- Design our dream website (think Posthog!)
- Design a new logo
- Help out with Youtube (thumbnails, descriptions)
